America’s Got Talent, much like swimsuits or barbecues (barbies for our friends Down Under) has become a staple of summer to millions of people. Aspiring artists from all walks of life converge on the show’s stage, all with the same hope – to turn their dreams into reality.

This year, the show closed with a bang as 12-year-old Grace VanderWaal was voted the winner by viewers. She took home $1 million and a headlining show in Las Vegas. This very talented girl is a lot younger than her fellow competitors on the show, but in her case, age didn’t matter. Talent prevailed.

America’s Got Talent has crowned its new winner.

VanderWaal first appeared on the show with her ukulele and sang her original song entitled, “I Don’t Know My Name” which blew away the judges.

She was given the golden buzzer and a standing ovation.

She went on to sing many songs she’s written throughout the contest including this one, titled “Clay”, a touching song about being bullied which she dazzled everyone with at the finale.

She wants to donate some of her winnings to charity. If you’d like to see more of her performances, here are the rest of them in one video:

Simon Cowell even went so far as to say VanderWaal could be the next Taylor Swift. There’s really no arguing that.
