A hospice isn’t exactly most people’s ideal place to wed. It’s probably at the bottom of the list of choices for most people, actually. But for Christopher and Patricia Armstrong, it was the best place to tie the knot.

When you find out their reason why, be warned – it may cause tears.

Read on below to find out why.

Christopher and Patricia got married in a hospice center in Lexington, NC.

They wanted their one-month old son, Conner, to join them in their union.

They held him as they said their “I do’s”.

Conner was diagnosed with Edward’s Syndrome, a fatal condition.

Edward’s Syndrome is a genetic condition. It’s caused by the cells having an extra copy of chromosome 18. Connor didn’t have much time left so his parents made sure he was at their wedding.

Conner passed away a few days later.

Conner may not be with his family anymore, but at least he was there on one of the most important days of their lives. Patricia says “I never expected this to happen so I don’t know what my plans are… Just to take things one day at a time.”
