It’s hard when you have a crush on someone who doesn’t even know you’re alive. How can you begin to win his or her affection when you can’t even get their attention? If you’re one of those individuals who wishes to have their crush fall for them, here are six scientifically proven ways to help you get your crush’s attention and improve your chances with him or her.
1. Eye contact is key
Not only is it polite to look someone in they eye while having a conversation, but psychologist Zick Rubin of Harvard conducted a study which found that couples who are in love with each other maintain eye contact 75 percent of the time while talking. Resist the urge to look away frequently, and it will help to increase the intimacy between the two of you.
2. Show interest in who they are and be a good listener
Try to limit talking about yourself to your crush unless they ask for it. Studies conducted by the University of Nevada and the University of Washington revealed that listening to what he or she has to say and showing interest by asking follow up questions are vital in getting your crush to fall for you. People love it when someone else takes interest in what they have to say, so be interested in what your crush is saying.
3. Appreciate their passion
Oftentimes, people are vulnerable about the things that they’re passionate about. If you really like someone, show interest in what they’re passionate about. Unless they’re just completely self absorbed, they’ll notice how much you care and will be drawn closer to you as a result.
4. Flash those pearly whites
Numerous studies have concluded that we find people more attractive, more positive, and more interested when they’re smiling. It also makes them look more self-confident. These are all attractive qualities to the majority of people and are likely to attract your crush as well.
5. Don’t be shy about physical contact
A little touch here and there can go a long way. A simple touch on the shoulder, or brush of the arm or hand while talking will make you feel more comfortable around the person. Unless they jerk away, you can usually assume that it’s helping them to feel more comfortable around you as well.
6. Show appreciation for them
Another effective way to get your crush to fall for you is by making him or her feel special. We all need a certain amount of validation. Let them know that you appreciate who they are as a person and all that they do. Just imagine, if someone treats you that way, won’t you want to spend more time in their company? Make your crush feel appreciated (not objectified), and watch how effective it is.
