At Cincinnati Zoo, an Australian Shepherd named Blakely, is a local hero after serving as a surrogate parent to numerous animals ranging from tiger cubs to skunks. Zoo employees have nicknamed him “animal nanny”.

The city of Cincinnati are so proud of Blakely that they’ve declared October 19th as “Blakely Day”! Check out photos below of Blakely with some of his surrogate children!

Meet Blakely, the in-house surrogate parent at Cincinnati Zoo.

This six-year-old Australian Shepherd has been taking care of baby animals for years.

Here’s Blakely with an ocelot that he took care of.

He was a parent to this bat-eared fox too.

Now he’s been rewarded with a special day named after him.

Blakely is a very loving surrogate to so many animals at the zoo who lost their parents or were abandoned by them. What an awesome dog!
