Halloween is fast approaching, and what better way to get into the spirit than to decorate? The crisp feeling of Autumn is in the air, and pumpkins, ghosts, bats, cobwebs, witches and skeletons will adorn yards, porches, front doors, and home interiors. Some props get taken more seriously than others, however.
A company named Scary Peeper has developed a line of realistic Halloween props designed to put a legitimate scare into people. The props are made to look like various versions of a man peeping through a window. Home Depot Canada was carrying one of these products – the “Original Scary Peeper” model – on its shelves, but they’ve had to pull it from stores due to complaints from customers about how creepy it is. It’s still for sale in U.S. stores, however, and can be purchased online.
The Scary Peeper Creeper in Home Depot stores in Canada has drawn numerous customer complaints.
It was specifically designed as a Halloween prop “invented to simulate a ‘Peeping Tom’ looking through a window” and is great for playing pranks on others.
A teacher and mother of two even contacted CBC News, saying it “makes light of a very serious crime”.
She said that she couldn’t see the humor in it, pointing out that voyeurism is a crime in Canada.
Home Depot eventually pulled the Scary Peeper prop from its shelves in all of its locations in Canada.
However, it’s still being sold in their U.S stores. It can also be purchased online.

It seems most people have one of two reactions to it – either they think it’s an awesome prop, or they think it’s absolutely horrifying. What do you think? Is this a product that belongs in stores?
