It’s no secret that women love experimenting with different hairstyles. All sorts of different gadgets are used in this endeavor, such as curling irons, hair straighteners, hair dryers with various attachments, etc. If you have long hair, you typically have even more options for styles
Of course, many woman with longer hair often pull it into a ponytail or a bun. Ballerinas are known for wearing a very tightly pulled bun. Among other reasons for doing so, it helps them to prevent whipping themselves in the face with their hair while dancing. This can have consequences, however, as Hollands learned too late.
This is 22-year-old Diva Hollands from Britain.
Her hair wasn’t this beautiful before. She suffered from traction alopecia, a condition characterized by gradual hair loss due to tension.
She started ballet when she was only three years old.
She practiced ballet until she was 18 years old, including training at the Royal Ballet School. Throughout those 15 years, her hair was frequently pull back tightly away from her face.
The result was receding hairline at an early age.
As a result her forehead looked wider and she was often teased because of it.
She started to lose even more hair after she gave birth to her two children.
In October 2015, she decided to undergo follicular transplant.
Her surgeon, Dr. Edward Ball, took a strip of skin with hair follicles from the back of her head then split it into hair grafts and transplanted it to the front. The procedure took eight hours to finish.
Her hair has transformed since then, and she’s now more confident than ever.
Her story serves as a warning to others who are fond of tight hairstyles.
She hopes her story will encourage other women suffering from hair loss issues.
